You may have heard that curved wedding bands are a fashion faux pas, and made specifically for when the center stone is set in a low base - but curved wedding bands have actually been around for centuries, and were first designed back in the Victorian era. The design was believed to symbolize two soulmates coming together as one.
Who should consider a curved wedding band? Anyone! Non-traditional wedding rings are all the rage these days, and can beautifully compliment or accentuate your wedding ring set. For instance, gentle contours create a seamless, elegant fit while sharp angles can create an eye-catching design.
Truth be told, unique wedding rings can also make the simplest of solitaires light up the room. Imagine a delicate row of diamonds gently hugging your stunning center stone. Or maybe you choose a curved wedding ring for sentimental reasons: a curved ring makes the subtle shape of an ocean wave in commemoration of your beach wedding. The possibilities are endless!

Once you’ve tried on several styles, it’s not uncommon to discover that you wish you could combine the elements of different bands. If that's your case, design your wedding band with Custom by Colonial! Select your width, curvature, whether you’d like diamonds or gemstones, and how you’d like those stones to be set – then leave the rest to us.
We begin with a consultation where we work together to make these key decisions and provide you with a quote to create your custom wedding band. Then you’ll make a half-down deposit to get started with the production of a 3D model that you’ll be able to try on with your engagement ring to make sure it’s exactly right. We will need to keep your engagement ring over the course of the project, so that the designer and our master jeweler are able to reference the fit throughout. But don’t worry – if you need your ring for engagement photos or other bridal celebrations, you can certainly come pick it up and return it to us as soon as you can. Perks of doing everything in-house!
Don’t forget the engraving! Colonial Jewelers offers in-house engraving services for up to 15 characters, which is included in your purchase price. If you have a specific font in mind, or would prefer the engraving to be hand-written, we also have the option to laser engrave for an additional fee.
